Event highlights this year, includes 3 case study driven addresses from the European Commision, EU Naval Force and the European Defence Agency.

1. European Commission social media strategy

Attendees will analyse the most effective way of using social media platforms in a military environment as the European Commission reveal how they utilise key platforms for engaging with multinational audiences.

2. EU Naval Force and social media
Presented by Michael Quinn, Media Plans Officer, EU Naval Force Somalia Operation Atalanta

3. EU and the Multinational Capability Development Campaign
Presented by Chris Stace, Project Officer Information Management and NEC, European Defence Agency

Delegates will identify cutting-edge developments in situation awareness and open source intelligence as Chris Stace provides insights into the EU's Common Security & Defence Policy.

When asked what attendees will take away from his talk Chris commented:

“That social media are more than a broadcast and interactive channels for recruitment, PA, Media Ops, strat com and info ops. The entire information cycle needs to be considered. Social media lacks credibility among decision-makers in defence and security. Challenges currently outweigh benefits so trick is avoiding former but exploit latter.”

On what we can expect in future advancements, he said

“More mobility – killer apps for security, payment, and situation awareness. Building technology into traditional battlefield weapons/protection and platforms.”
