Boneshaker Project Announces Online Fundraising Campaign For Cyclists: Boneshaker Breakaway

Sept. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- BONESHAKER PROJECT ANNOUNCES ONLINE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR CYCLISTS:
BONESHAKER BREAKAWAY – October 1-31, 2014

AUSTIN, TEXAS
- Boneshaker Project (http://www.boneshaker.org), an Austin-based nonprofit organization with the mission of “getting kids moving” announces its first major fundraising campaign in support of their Youth Bike Programs. Boneshaker Breakaway: A Mileage & Fundraising Challenge is a peer-to-peer online fundraiser whereby participants will pledge to ride mileage of their choosing during October, and match that goal in fundraising – mile to dollar.

“Over the last year we have made incredible progress and growth with our grassroots programs for kids,” said Riley Gerber, Executive Director of Boneshaker Project. “This campaign aims to fund that growth and bring further support to and awareness about our work in the community.  We’re getting kids back outside – and onto bikes! “

To “roll out” the campaign, Logan Hutchings, professional bike racer of BoneshakerD1 Racing, and reigning Texas State Road Champion, has pledged to lead four group rides with varying distance/difficulty in the first four days of the campaign.  This concept allows participants to be socially engaged and log their pledged miles in a fun way.  Group rides are open to anyone (no-drop) and will make stops that spotlight Boneshaker Project’s work and involvement in the community. [F1] (http://#_msocom_1)  Route stops include The University of Texas at Austin campus to ride with UT Cycling Club student-athletes, a stop at the Six Shooter Cyclocross Race to spotlight the 2015 CX Nationals coming to Austin January 2015, and at all three Bike World locations, the sponsor of Logan’s San Antonio ride.

Development Associate Alex Ecenia shares how the platform is bringing a new approach to Boneshaker Project fundraising efforts. “Our organization’s fundraising strategy is dynamic and includes corporate partnerships, individual donors, community-wide events and now peer-to-peer fundraising,” said Ecenia. “This campaign will transform supporters into stakeholders in our cause.”

“Consistent with our mission, our fundraising challenge includes an exercise element,” said Gerber. “This way, our supporters can be outside and active, promoting their own healthy lifestyles – championing the movement.”

Boneshaker Breakaway Challenge participants will receive rewards at fundraising milestones, starting with, for those who raise $100, an invitation to our “Toast to Success” party at Whisler’s Bar on Nov. 4.  Other rewards include a locally designed t-shirt, custom trucker hat, and invitation to exclusive club ride with top area athletes.  Local shops and organization supporters have donated prizes for top individual and fundraising teams.

Local Austin-area and San Antonio bike shops including Mellow Johnny’s, Austin Tri-Cyclist, Jack & Adams, Division One Bicycles, and Bike World have all pledged to field teams.  Beyond bike shops, companies and brands such as Bearded Brothers Bars, Grimpeur Coffee, and TexasBikeRacing.com have all committed to participating.

“We really support the unique work Boneshaker Project is doing to get kids outside and on bikes,” said Missy Ruthven, co-owner of Austin Tri-Cyclist and top area athlete.

Press and media are invited to attend any of Logan Hutching’s Boneshaker Breakaway kickoff group rides that will occur Oct. 1-4. For more information about ride details, please contact Alex Ecenia, alex@boneshaker.org.
