Veteran Owned and Operated Manufacturer Starts US Production of Solar Powered Flashlights

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Sept. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Alexandria, VA [Sept 10, 2014] ----- American Light Works is pleased to announce the start of US production of its award winning solar powered flashlights.  The Company manufactures flashlights that exceed military specifications, and are airtight and waterproof.

To ensure the highest production quality of its Model S solar powered flashlight, American Light Works has partnered with some of the finest U.S. companies. North Carolina based Cree is the source of light emitting diodes, and adhesives and sealants come from Michigan based Dow Corning.  The plastic shells for the flashlights are shot by Skyline Plastics, a family-owned company in North Carolina. Assembly of the flashlights is done in partnership with the Virginia based non-profit E-Tron Systems.  E-Tron focuses on electro-mechanical assembly and hires the intellectually disabled.

The Company also announced it is using ASA plastics in its products. While a more expensive material, ASA has the highest level of resistance to UV exposure.

According to American Light Works, the rechargeable batteries in the flashlights will last for over two years with every-night use. The batteries are easy to replace.   The flashlights are completely waterproof, with the inner compartment sealed airtight so that humidity and condensation cannot enter the light and eventually damage the circuit board.   The switch on the light is ultrasonically welded to the body of the device and operated with a switch and a magnet, so it has no bushings to wear out.
