Kickstarter Campaign #11: MazeSquare Jigsaw Puzzle Game Boards

A jigsaw puzzle of a maze puzzle that becomes a board game. The interchangeable pieces allow players to create different maze boards.

SEATTLE - June 26, 2014 - PRLog -- The Kickstarter campaign for the MazeSquare Jigsaw has been launched by the creator of the project Maciek Jozefowicz. This is the 11th Kickstarter campaign by the artist. The campaign will run until July 3. Here is more information about the project from the creator:

MazeSquare Jigsaw Game

The Idea Equation behind this project is: Maze Puzzle + Jigsaw Puzzle + Board Game = MazeSquare Jigsaw Puzzle Game Board . It is that simple. But the project is, I hope, richer and more fun than math.

Jigsaw Maze with Interchangeable Pieces

One of the things that makes these jigsaw and these maze puzzles more fun than math is that the pieces of the jigsaw are interchangeable. You can create different mazes by rearranging the pieces.

They are interchangeable because I have limited the jigsaw pieces to only a few simple shapes from which all the puzzles are made from. In addition to adding variety to the game, using few simple pieces makes the jigsaw puzzle more difficult.

Even better, the different MazeSquare Jigsaws are also interchangeable. So that you can create a totally unique maze puzzle from them or your can create one giant maze puzzle using all of the pieces from the three different jigsaw game puzzle boxes.

There are five different shapes of jigsaw pieces: two corners, two sides and one interior. The pieces, like the finished jigsaw puzzles, are square. And they are quite beautiful in their abstract simplicity.

MazeSquare Jigsaw Board Game

Once you put together the maze jigsaw, you can use it as a game board. Take out some dice and use some coins or pebbles for pieces and let the game begin. Actually, if the campaign reaches certain goals, dice, player pieces and other bonus game pieces, including miniature game cards (1.25×1.75"), will be added for free to each box of MazeSquare Jigsaw Puzzle.

The most straightforward way that you can play the assembled jigsaw game is to treat it like a maze race where each player tries to get to the finish first. But that is only one way to play it.

You can add elements to the board and make the game into a treasure hunt.

You can also make this into a duel, a chess/checker battle that takes place on a maze field rather then a square grid.

The MazeSquare Jigsaw Base

The MazeSquare Jigsaw base will be free if and when the campaign reaches that particular stretch goal. The base can be used in a variety of ways. One way to use it is to help you assemble the jigsaw. Because the base is gridded, it help you orient all the pieces.

Another way to use the base, is a a gameboard. This way, the jigsaw becomes a two player game reminiscent of dominoes. I am still working out the particulars of the gameplay but it will be ready by the time you receive your rewards.

MazeSquare Giclée Art Prints

In addition to the jigsaw puzzles, I am offering a custom giclée art print of the three mazesquare designs. Each art print is printed on quality, heavy art paper with extra 1" border space for framing.

WHAT IF... MazeSquare Jig-less Jigsaw Puzzle Game Board

This is what makes Kickstarter special. The backers can have the say of what the final product will look be like.

What if the pieces of the jigsaw puzzles were all square? The difficulty level would be raised. You could make more different maze puzzles with them, too. The pieces would not connect, obviously, but that is where the MazeSquare Base would come in handy. The base keeps all the pieces tightly together. There could be a whole new set of game opportunities provided with this arrangement.

What do you think?

I can make all the MazeSquare Jigsaw Game Board pieces square if that is the choice of the backers.
