Awards and events at Celebrations Galley ~ Shoppes ~ Tea Events in Pomfret CT.

PUTNAM, Conn. - May 21, 2014 - PRLog -- The May/June edition of Yankee Magazine's Special Travel Guide has named local establishments in Connecticut as "Best of New England - Editors' Choice" winners for 2014. This designation is awarded by Yankee's editors and contributors, who name select restaurants, lodgings, and attractions in New England to the exclusive list. Celebrations is delighted to announce that Yankee has selected it as "Best Tea Stop"!

In addition to seasonal cream tea events and personalized private tea parties, Celebrations hosts Themed Afternoon Teas, open to all by reservation twice a month. In 2014, two of these teas were designated fundraisers for local organizations. In March, Celebrations raised money for The Last Green Valley and in May, they will donate 10% of "Butterflies and Blossoms" Afternoon Tea sales to Performing Arts of NECT, which has provided over 150,000 school children the opportunity to attend operatic and orchestral musical events in its 40 years of service to the public.  This donation will support Madama Butterfly--the famous Puccini opera to be performed at the Hyde Cultural Center on Mother's Day weekend. "Butterflies and Blossoms" Tea is scheduled for Thursday, May 8 & Saturday, May 10 at 2PM. Reservations required (860-928-5492).

Upcoming art exhibitions and events at Celebrations this year include an eclectic and fun mix of themes plus another fundraiser to support a local community project. "BIG Works: Garden Treasures" opens on May 31 with a Meet the Artist Reception from 5-8PM and runs through July 13. It will feature large & colorful indoor and outdoor garden-themed art in a range of media including wood sculpture, watercolor, acrylics, photography, woodworking, repurposed glassware, and found object metal sculpture.

June 14th is the state’s annual promotion of art and culture, CT Open House Day. Celebrations will participate by featuring select partnering artists demonstrating their art.  In July, plan to put the top down and celebrate summer the classically American way with an all-things-automotive themed art exhibition Cruisin' from July 26 - Sept. 7. An Opening Reception will be held Saturday, July 26 from 5-8PM.

This autumn, Celebrations invites you to "It Takes a Village, People...To Build a YMCA," from September 13-October 25. This whimsical FUNdraiser art exhibition will benefit the new Regional Community YMCA to be built in Putnam. 20% of the art sales from this exhibition will be donated to the new YMCA. A Meet the Artists Reception will be held on Saturday, September 13 from 5 to 8 PM and includes live entertainment. All of Celebrations art exhibitions are free, open to the public and offer complimentary refreshments during the opening receptions.
