A Novel Inspired by the World’s Greatest Black Ballerinas

‘Blue Butterfly’ by Marian L. Thomas Is Available on Amazon

NEW YORK - April 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Clean Fiction writer Marian L. Thomas has just published her most awaited novel, ‘Blue Butterfly’, which is available on Amazon in paperback as of April 3rd. Inspired by the real stories of the world’s greatest black ballerinas, this is a heart-warming romance that also discusses important, thought-provoking themes such as family strife, race, discrimination, and the struggle for success. The main character, Precious Blue Johnson, will remind readers of the beautiful and talented ballerinas Raven Wilkinson, Lauren Anderson, Tai Jimenez, Misty Copeland, and Aesha Ash. ‘Blue Butterfly’ comes as homage to their work and their courage and determination to succeed in a world where the art of ballet was immediately associated with pale, white skin.

The story starts with the innocent and naïve Precious Blue, a simple country girl who dreams of becoming the world’s first black ballerina. She leaves Lutts County, Georgia and goes to the noisy and intimidating New York in hopes of finding her birth father and of building a career on stage. She would have never guessed how difficult it could be to convince everyone that a young girl with mocha skin and thick lips can dance just as gracefully as any white girl. The color of her skin will bring her many enemies, eventually putting her in the center of a movement, but Precious Blue will also make friends and find true love. She is a strong woman who doesn’t give up easily, and this will make readers fall in love with her from page one. They will root for her and hope she achieves everything she is fighting for, because such a brilliant and talented woman deserves to be happy and accomplished.

In New York, Precious Blue meets Ray Silvers, with whom she falls in love. He is a promising doctor, he is intelligent and gorgeous, and he loves her completely. However, his dark past may pose a threat to their relationship when his drug-addicted mother comes to ruin their happiness and hopes for a bright, peaceful future. Will their love be strong enough to survive these challenges? Ray is always there to support Precious, and he gives her strength to continue on the path she has chosen. Maybe, if they stick together, they can overcome any obstacle that is thrown their way.

Marian L. Thomas is well-known for her dynamic storytelling, and her clean writing, which makes her the first African American pioneer of Contemporary Women’s Clean Fiction. She often stated that she refuses to lace her work with explicit sexual themes or profanity, thus her novels being suitable for the delicate moral tastes of both the Christian Fiction reader and the Clean Fiction book reader.
