MIAMI - Jan. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The Brickell Breakfast Series, a monthly networking group for Brickell/Downtown Miami business professionals and residents, sponsored by Kane & Company, P.A. Certified Public Accountants & Advisors, will hold a breakfast seminar entitled “I’ve just been served with a Subpoena-What do I do?” on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Perricone's Marketplace & Café, 15 S.E. 10th Street, Miami from 7:30am-9:00 am. Commercial Litigation Attorney Jane W. Muir, a shareholder with the law firm of Gersten & Muir, P.A., is the featured speaker. Receiving a subpoena can be a shocking experience.  Anyone who receives a subpoena may be ordered to appear in court or for a deposition, or perhaps only to provide documents. Muir’s presentation will cover what duties you may have to comply with in regards to subpoenas, whether you can require accommodations for time and location, when you can receive payment for your time and effort and when you can reject or even ignore a subpoena. This presentation will demonstrate how to take control of these situations and avoid loss of time and money.

Muir is an attorney that works with companies in technology and new media, assisting them with business transactions and commercial litigation. She is a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Miami School of Law.
