The Broward National Academy Foundation (NAF), an acclaimed network of career-themed academies that opens doors for high school students leading to viable careers, held a reception on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 for Broward businesses interested in hiring students for paid internships from Broward's Academies of Hospitality and Tourism, Finance and Information Technology. More than 250 people attended the reception, which was sponsored by BrightStar Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in south Florida. The event was free to the public, included networking and refreshments and took place from 5:30 to 7pm at Signature Grand, 6900 State Road 84 in Davie.
At the reception, Broward businesseslearned how interns can benefit their businesses and they also learned how NAF empowers high school students through successful internships and prepares them for college. NAF was recently featured on a TIME Magazine cover story on 'Getting the Job' about their new approaches to educating incoming college students.
