Follow on Google News | Coaches are not just for sports!!!!!By: The Dietz Team Along with being one of the top ten ranked agents in Pinellas County, Fl. John Dietz is also a speaker, coach and trainer. As a matter of fact, that is his TRUE passion. I knew that about John prior to joining his team, but figured that was a seperate part of his business. I was there to support him and his team of agents in the contract to closing process. As we all know though, the things we are truly passionate about are incorporated into all parts of our lives. Coaching and speaking are no exception to this rule. Included in my job "benefits" was the option to be "coached" on a weekly basis by John Dietz. Now, let me explain, that my experience with coaches thus far, has been high school coaches for sports (way back in the 80's) and that's about it. Coaches are for football and soccer and softball. Right? Not so fast.... I figured that if there are people from all parts of the country that retain John to be their coach, and I had the opportunity to access this for free, I am taking full advantage of this opportunity. So here is the story.... please take a few minutes to read through. I PROMISE it is worth it! Assignment #1: Write a list of 21 combined personal and business goals that I want to accomplish in 2014. Really??? 21???? I don't have 21 goals. That's an outrageous number. My FIRST "aha" moment.... I actually had a hard time narrowing it down to 21. So I wrote them down, and now carry them with me. Assignment #2: Write down my "action plan". The steps I need to take on a daily, weekly or monthly basis in order to achieve the goals I SET for MYSELF. It seemed so simplistic. If I want to lose 35 pounds this year, that means that 3 days a week, I swap out a salad for my usual lunch. I walk 2 miles every day and excercise 4-5 days a week for 1/2 hour a day. When you break it down into daily tasks, it is so much more realistic and feels much more achievable. Assignment #3: Go and purchase a "at a glance calendar". One that I can open and see my entire week at a glance, and schedule my time around family, work and Me. The things that are all priority to ME. I know what my daily schedule is like, and the time I need to devote to each to accomplish what I want to. Pencil in my time so that I am in a routine and know what I should be doing at certain times. When I accomplish this, I am making things a habit. Good habits lead to success. Time management leads to sucess. So last week, in my coaching session, John gives me my "assignment" That, my friends, was the real "aha". At that moment, I truly understood the coaching. I can make excuses to myself. I can ignore that I went through McDonalds and ordered a big mac, instead of eating my salad. But when you have a true cheerleader, someone who wants you to succeed as much or even maybe more than you do, telling THEM the excuses that you are able to justify to yourself that sound pathetic when you say them to that cheerleader. On the opposite side of that, someone who tells you, "fantastic job... you beat your goal on this, or you did twice what you planned to do". We all know how accomplised we feel personally when you achieve something, but having someone else that shares that accomplishment with you, makes it that much sweeter! It is the first day of the New Year. New year, new beginning. I have set goals for myself, as I have, and I am sure that you all have many years in a row. Some of those goals I accomplished, and many I did not. This year, however, with a coach and trainer like John Dietz in my corner, I am more than confident I am going to have an amazing year, both personally and in my career. I am ready to take 2014 on with determination. A calendar. And a list of items that at the end of the year I will look back on and smile and realize that having a coach might have been the best decision I made! If you are interested in speaking to John Dietz about his coaching opportunities, please -contact our office at 727-451-3530. I promise you, coaches are NOT just for sports and wouldn't it be nice for you to look back on 2014 and realize that having a coach was the best decision YOU made.
