Dr. Pici, Medical Director at Children’s Rehabiliation Center, Inducted into Senior Hall of Fame

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- On Friday, December 6, 2013, Dr. Maria A. Pici, Medical Director at the Children’s Rehabilitation Center, was inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame during a ceremony held at the Westchester Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown. Dr. Pici was inducted as one of five Special Recognition Honorees.

Dr. Pici led the way to begin the Children’s Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, which provides medically complex children with comprehensive care and rehabilitation services. She was one of the first to develop and provide outpatient rehabilitative services in the area and has pioneered innovative Rehabilitation Center features like its Aquatic Therapy Center, Adaptive Therapeutic Karate Program and peer-to-peer support groups.

Dr. Pici is an advocate for all disabled children and families, especially those who are poor and disadvantaged. “The amount of herself that Dr. Pici gives to the children and their families here is unprecedented,” said Kirstin McArthur, Associate Director of Development and Volunteer Service Coordinator at the John A. Coleman School and Children’s Rehabilitation Center. “Between communicating with patient families while she’s technically “off duty” and personally phoning vendors to be sure that the children she cares for receive the equipment they need to allow them to reach their maximum potential, it’s clear that Dr. Pici puts our kids first.” McArthur added, “She is the fiercest proponent that these children and their families have.”

Dr. Pici was born in Pescara, Italy and is a graduate of the University of Bologna. She completed her internship at Yonkers General Hospital and her residency at Misericordia Hospital and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Pici is a member of the Westchester County Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is the mother of three children and a grandmother to six grandchildren and presently resides with her husband in West Harrison, New York.
