Attorney Matt Meyerkord Selected for Inclusion in 2013 Super Lawyers® List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Dec. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Meyerkord & Russell is proud to announce that Kansas City Personal Injury Attorney Matt Meyerkord has been included in the 2013 Super Lawyers® list, which is published by Super Lawyers® Magazine. This is no small feat, as only up to 5% of lawyers in each state are selected for this distinction, according to the Super Lawyers® website. The list recognizes attorneys who have been determined through peer review and independent research to be most outstanding lawyers in their fields and their geographic areas. This honor follows Attorney Meyerkord’s inclusion in the 2012 Super Lawyers® Rising Stars℠ list.

Prior to designating honorees for the list, Super Lawyers® carries out its patented, multi-phase selection process. It all starts with peer nomination, in which attorneys are nominated by professional peers who have personally witnessed the nominees’ legal abilities, according to the list provider. Candidates can also be selected by the Super Lawyers® research department. Next, the candidates undergo evaluation by the research team, which assigns points to the lawyers in 12 different areas that measure professional achievement and peer recognition. After that, the attorneys are reviewed by professional peers through “blue ribbon review” panels and given ratings from 1 to 10.

When the overall scores are tallied, the lawyers are divided into categories based on the sizes of their firms so that there is a fair comparison. Those who have the highest scores in their categories are chosen for the Super Lawyers® list. The Rising Stars℠ list uses the same selection process, expect that the list is only for attorneys who are either at or below the age of 40, or who have a maximum of 10 years of experience practicing law.

In addition to being included in both the Super Lawyers® and Rising Stars℠ lists, Attorney Meyerkord has also reached other impressive milestones during his career.  He was selected as 2011 Best of the Bar by the Kansas City Journal and as a 2010 Up & Coming Lawyer by Missouri Lawyers Weekly. The attorney has also obtained significant case victories, including a $1 million settlement in a trucking accident case in 2008.
