JESSICASIMIEN.COM Gives Back To Joyce's Hope Home For Girls For The Thanksgiving Holiday

JACKSON, Miss. - Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Jackson, Miss – Thanksgiving is a joyous holiday devoted to giving thanks and giving back. The staff at JessicaSimien.com is giving back this holiday season by providing young ladies in the community with things that are often taken for granted. While coming up with ideas to give back, the Founder and Editor-In-Chief of JessicaSimien.com, Jessica Simien, had previously learned about Joyce’s Hope Home for Girls in Jackson and thought they would be great to work with for Thanksgiving.

“I was at the state fair and I saw a flyer for a girls home asking for donations and volunteers and I immediately wanted to partner with them somehow to help get them the things they need,” she says. “When Thanksgiving rolled around I wanted to start a relationship with them by first showing them that we care and we’re here to help their cause and mission.”

Joyce’s Hope Home for Girls is an initiative of the Hinds County Youth Court that primarily serves Hinds County Youth Court, the City of Jackson and the Metro area. The facility was named in the honor of Joyce Caracci, a founding donor, and provides 24-hour immediate intervention services for girls, ages 10-17, that have been picked up by law enforcement officers and charged with non-violent offenses such as truancy, violating curfew, running away, or have been victims of abuse or neglect. Joyce’s Hope Home is home to about five girls each year that are in immediate need of shelter or aid. These young girls are victims of traumatic physical and/ or sexual abuse, poor social and academic skills, self-abuse and withdrawal.

With your help, they will have everyday items they need to maintain proper hygiene and have a nourishing meal. You can help out by donating some of the items listed below:

o Snack foods (chips, cookies, etc.)

o Rice

o Spaghetti Noodles and sauce

o Paper Towels

o Garbage bags

o Feminine personal hygiene items (soap, deodorant, sanitary napkins, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.)

These items would allow the girls to have a more comfortable stay as they search for a permanent place of residence. Cosmetic items will also be donated as a way to encourage inner and outer beauty. Donations will be accepted between Tuesday, November 12, 2013 and Saturday, November 23, 2013. All donations are tax deductible.
