Waukesha Choral Union Kicks Off 40th Season

    “Light Eternal,” a concert of contemplative songs about life and the life hereafter will be performed by the Waukesha Choral Union at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave. in Waukesha.

    The concert’s main work will be Requiem by John Rutter. Completed in 1985, Requiem utilizes texts from the Requiem Mass and the Book of Common Prayer.

   The performance will feature the Choral Union’s 39 members, accompanied by Amanda McFall and conducted by Artistic Director Ernest Brusubardis III.

    Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors an students and $4 for children under 12.

The Season

         The remainder of the 2013-2014 WCU season features the theme of “Light.” It includes Dec. 6 and Dec. 8 performances of “Light of the World,” a March 23 performance of “Creation: Let There Be Light” and concludes with “Sunrise Mass” on May 3.

    Active in the community for more than 60 years, the Waukesha Choral Union’s roots date back to 1949. A combined group composed of the Carroll College Chorus and community members of the Waukesha Choral Society became the Town and Gown in 1961. The group became the Waukesha Choral Union in 1974.
