Follow on Google News | National Student Poetry Non-Profit Celebrates National Day on Writing - Oct 20By: Marquee Media and Marketing "If you want to change the world, pick up a pen and write." This quote from theologian Martin Luther is welcomed inspiration for every student participating in the annual 7GP 7th Grade Poetry Contest, a nationwide school-based program. Any school that has a seventh grade can register (http://7thgradepoetry.org/ Every participating school selects its own winner in January. The work is then published in an anthology of all winning poems that is donated to the student and school as well as placed on the shelves of their local public library. Winning poets are also paid $25 and featured in a filmed poetry-reading event and awards ceremony in April, during National Poetry Month. This educational literary arts program is now in its fourth year and is funded by The 7th Grade Poetry Foundation (7GP), a 501(c)(3) charity based in St. Louis. The founder, Aaron Williams, believes "Anyone can write a great poem and everyone deserves that chance." End
