By: Ed Mascari Piano Studio Hudson, MA – The Ed Mascari Jazz Duo will give a free jazz concert featuring Ed Mascari-piano and Rebecca Wellons-saxophone & flute on Tuesday evening, October 22nd at the Hudson Public Library, 3 Washington St, Hudson, MA 01749 at 7:00 PM. Ed Mascari and Rebecca Wellons are both Hudson residents-neighbors who live on Lake Boon. This summer, they discovered their musical compatibility and put together their jazz duo. Their repertoire includes pieces such as Night and Day, When I Fall in Love, Desafinado, Have You Met Miss Jones and Take Five. Rebecca Wellons has performed with the Chagall Performing Arts Collaborative, the Chagall PAC Saxophone Quartet and the Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble. She has also participated in numerous premieres of music for saxophone including works by Aaron Jay Myers, Claudio Gabriele, and Tolga Yayalar. Rebecca can be heard on Cauchemar Records. As an educator, Rebecca is Director of the Jazz and Concert Bands at the Wayland Middle School and has taught at Bridgewater State University as well as in the Wakefield, Groton and Wellesley public schools. Rebecca earned degrees from Indiana University (BME) and The Boston Conservatory (MMEd and MM). Her teachers have included Kenneth Radnofsky, Otis Murphy, and Eugene Rousseau. Ed Mascari has maintained a professional performing career for more than four decades. In his early career, he worked as a jazz organist leading his own quartet playing concerts at many New England Colleges. Later he played electric piano and synthesizer in “Top 40” bands and then performed as a solo pianist at such venues as the Sheraton Boston Hotel and for 14 years at the Radisson Milford Hotel. Since 1981, Ed has been the organist/pianist/ Ed Mascarihas been teaching piano to adults and children for the past 35 years at the Ed Mascari Piano Studio with locations in Natick and in Hudson.
