HighOrbit Streamlines AFE Process, Increases Efficiency for Agronomy Company of Canada

After conducting a survey with Agromart Partners, the firm recognized the pressing need for an automated procedure that would increase the efficiency and timeliness of the AFE process. For a capital expenditure to be permitted, it must first be approved by each director before the acquisition can take place. With 20 locations across Ontario and the Maritime Provinces and between four and eight directors at each location, the firm knew the system would need to be systematized for increased efficiency to be accomplished.

The new system, which has around 70 users in 20 companies across the organization, initiates an AFE online and notifies via email each director, streamlining the process through one portal, allowing users to check the status of the submission regularly.

According to Fran Rowse, Manager of Corporate Accounting and Tax at Agronomy Company of Canada, the implementation of HighOrbit has been a welcome addition to the firm. “From the moment the new workflow solution was rolled out, we noticed almost an immediate improvement within our AFE process,” said Rowse.

“The old system was manually regulated through an excel spreadsheet then printed out and sent to the directors for approval. The manual process would really slow everything down, often times resulting in missing a discount period or order date. Now Approval for Expenditures is sent electronically, allowing us to follow the progress, ensuring everything remains on track,” said Rowse.
