Scottsdale businesswoman Christina Ybanez has been awarded Arizona’s first local franchise for Thinique, the fast-growing medical weight loss clinic  franchise that gives patients access to physician-directed weight and healthy living programs.

The new clinic will be located at 15033 N. Thompson Peak Parkway, in the McDowell Mountain Village Shopping Center, Scottsdale.

“One reason we’re so excited about our new Thinique clinic,” Ybanez said, “is the advantage it gives patients because only board certified medical providers oversee their weight loss programs. Because of that, we’re able to offer physical exams, laboratory tests, prescriptions and other services that let us customize each patient’s program and potentially maximize the end result.”

Typically, patients who have completed the program at other Thinique clinics, Ybanez added, are experiencing weight loss of up to 15 to 20 pounds the first month, and up to 2 to 5 pounds a week after that.

Running a franchise is not new to Ybanez. She has owned and operated The Joint, the chiropractic place, at 16^th Street and Camelback since October 2010, She is also Regional Director for The Joint for Las Vegas, NV and for the Inland Empire in Orange County, CA.

“There couldn’t be a better time to start a business like weight loss clinic,” Ybanez said. “According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, two thirds of Arizona’s population is overweight or obese. Who of us either isn’t on a diet or doesn’t know someone who is? Projected opening date for the new clinic is August 13th, Ybanez said.
