EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. - July 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Complete Online Curriculum for Addiction Counselor Certification Now Available

NCADD of Middlesex County, Inc. announces the release of the entire training curriculum required to become a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). Courses are available online, 24/7 from any computer with internet access through www.addictiontrainings.com

According to a recent report, the number of job openings for substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors in the state of New Jersey will increase 27% through 2020. Addiction treatment and prevention agencies employ thousands of people that are working to improve their clients’ lives. It’s an intense, rewarding career. While the requirements are rigorous, accessing the training just got easier.

NCADD (http://ncadd-middlesex.org/) of Middlesex County, together with MindCross Training, recently announced the availability of all 45 training courses for addiction professionals required by the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey (APCBNJ) (http://certbd.com/). NCADD is the only organization currently offering this complete training in an online format.

Each course is eligible for six hours of credit towards certification. All courses were developed by credentialed counseling professionals and have been approved by the APCBNJ. Courses can be taken from any computer with internet access. Students can start and stop the course, review material, and focus on specific topics as they feel necessary.

“We believe this is a tremendous opportunity for counselor training,” said Steven G. Liga, Executive Director of NCADD of Middlesex. “The job outlook for substance abuse counselors is excellent, but, getting counselors the training they need has been difficult. Work and family schedules can make it hard for students to complete all 45 courses in a traditional classroom. Making these courses available online gives more individuals the chance to get the training they need to enter the field.”

“We are pleased to have partnered with NCADD on this exciting and innovative learning application,” noted Scott Hutton, Training Manager at MindCross Training (http://mindcross.com/). “This is a perfect example of increasing access to critical training through the use of eLearning.”

Individuals seeking certification in New Jersey must take a total of 270 course hours in five domains as part of the requirements to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).  New Jersey statute allows up to nine (9) courses or 54 credits to be obtained via distance learning, including online courses, for initial certification. Students may take an unlimited number of online courses when applying for recertification. Full requirements can be found at the State of New Jersey website LINKhttp://www.state.nj.us/humanservices/das/workforce/career/ or by contacting NCADD. Courses are priced at $59.99 each and enterprise pricing is also available.

In addition to having been approved for six initial and renewal hours toward the Addiction Counselor License and Certification (LCADC and CADC) in New Jersey, courses are also approved for CEU's needed for the Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT), MFT-Permit, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), and Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor (LRC) credentials. As an International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) member Board, APCBNJ-approved courses may have reciprocity with all other IC&RC member boards throughout the US and overseas. NCADD courses are also accepted for CEU's by the New Jersey Department of Education/Professional Development and is an approved National Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) provider.
