Average salaries for new travel jobs took a slight dip in June, as they fell by 2.82 per cent compared to May, according to the latest Travel Salary Index from C&M Recruitment Consultancy (http://www.candm.co.uk/) and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment (http://www.chisholmandmoore.co.uk/).

The £24,460 average salary is the lowest seen so far this year, however the index, which is based on all new vacancies registered at the two companies in the month, also showed that salaries increased slightly compared to June 2012, while the three-month average figure also rose annually by healthy 4.81 per cent.

Analysing the figures, Barbara Kolosinska, sales director at C&M Recruitment Consultancy, said: “Despite the monthly dip in June, the average travel salary still remained up year-on-year and is above the monthly average seen in 2012.

“The month also saw a 15 per cent annual rise in new vacancies being registered with C&M Recruitment Consultancy (http://www.candm.co.uk/) and Chisholm & Moore, suggesting that the coming months could be a busy period for the travel recruitment market.”

Sunbathing takes priority for job seekers in June

The start of the UK’s summer appeared to affect the number of new candidates registering with the two companies in June, as the month saw a notable drop in applicants compared to May. However, June’s number was still up by around a third compared to the same month in 2012, while it is also worth remembering that May’s total was the index’s highest figure for 14 months.

Ms Kolosinska commented: “With the sun coming out so infrequently in the UK, it’s understandable that people’s attentions will temporarily turn away from their job search! We actually see this trend most years - summer (alongside, inevitably, December) is traditionally the quietest in terms of new applicants.

“However, with many new jobs on our books in the past few weeks, we expect to see plenty of new candidates appearing throughout the rest of the summer.”

All figures are drawn from the salaries of the month’s new vacancies advertised with C&M Recruitment Consultancy and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment.

C&M Recruitment Consultancy was established in 1998 and is the largest and most successful specialist travel recruitment company in the UK.
