The 2013 Annual “Friends” MS Walk in Taylor, Michigan, raised more than $4,000

TAYLOR, Mich. - June 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The 9th year for the Annual “Friends” MS Walk hosted by The City of Taylor in Heritage Park June 8 raised more than $4,000  to help The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation fund programs for those in need.  A total of 73 people registered compared to 69 registered last year.  Although the money raised was down $1,000 from last year, the Michigan event succeeded as many other people also attended to show their support and help build awareness for the cause.

Walk Organizer Samara Wolf said, “I thank the sponsors who have continually supported this walk: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital Medical Staff Fund, The Fur Angels Pet Therapy group, Happy Paws Training Center, San Antonio Testing Lab, Dr. Neshewat M.D. from the Southgate Medical Group, Scott Grodman (DPM, PC Podiatrist), Embroidered Images, The Sign Shop, Greg’s Produce, and MI Custom Signs.  Tim Horton’s of Taylor was generous in donating items such as baked goods, and giving a substantial discount on donuts and coffee. Sax Discount Pharmacy donated all the bottled water.”

The Honorable State Representative Douglas A. Geiss  briefly spoke, as did the City of Taylor Mayor Jeffrey Lamarand, who was accompanied by his family for the walk.

Mrs. Wolf said, “Every year I am pleased with the turnout, and seeing new faces. This walk is creating a support system for one another. In addition, the event is providing each person the power and knowledge about MS and The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, all the while raising funds to make a difference for others. “

“Each year we add something new and this year was no exception; we added an arch of balloons, which caught the eyes of passersby.  Our DJ Dave (CKJ Entertainment) returned this year and entertained us all; while some even got up and danced before the walk began. Our prize raffle was a success due to many wonderful items that were donated by local businesses to help raise money for this worthy cause,” Mrs. Wolf added.

The mission of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation is to provide programs and support services to those persons affected by MS that help them maintain their health, safety, self-sufficiency, and personal well-being; and to heighten public awareness of multiple sclerosis in order to elicit financial support for the MSF’s programs and services and promote understanding for those diagnosed with the illness.
