LYGO DC Heats Up in July with Four Weekly Comedy Shows

Washington, D.C. – The weather in Washington is heating up, and so is LYGO DC (http://www.lygodc.com/) on the local comedy scene. With the June 18 debut of BLORP! (http://lygodc.com/shows/blorp/) at Desperados (http://lygodc.com/the-blog/desperados-burgers-and-bar/), July will mark LYGO DC’s first full month with four weekly shows. Presented by David Tveite (http://lygodc.com/performers/david-tveite/) and Matty Litwack (http://lygodc.com/performers/matty-litwack/), BLORP!, which will be held weekly on Tuesdays, will consist of an eclectic mix of booked feature acts and open mic comedy immediately following.

“LYGO DC is excited to team with David and Matty to make BLORP! a reality,” said co-founder Rich Bennett. “Washington, DC is more and more becoming a haven for comedic talent, and we are proud to be joining with them two.”

“Additionally, the mix of booked performers and traditional open mic slots will provide a unique viewing experience for the audience. Really, it’ll be the best of both worlds: experienced professionals and green, up-and-coming comedians,” Bennett said.

The BLORP! premiere, on Tuesday, June 18, will feature Jamel Johnson, Graham Hall (https://twitter.com/GrahamCorridor) and Chelsea Shorte, all past performers on the LYGO DC stage. BLORP! will be free for all audience members to attend throughout June, and will continue weekly on Tuesday at Desperados in July for a $10 cover.

LYGO DC will continue its traditional brunch comedy series in July with performances by Rallo Boykins and award-winning comedian and activist Sampson McCormick.
