FSI Council announces the launch of a new working group focusing on food service in the workplace

 
GATWICK, U.K. - June 12, 2013 - PRLog -- London, a new workgroup focusing on food services in the workplace was unveiled by the Food Service Industry Council today called the FM Workplace Group (FMWG). The workgroup’s membership consists of facility managers, corporate services directors, UK government agency officials and nutrition and health experts. It also includes venture capital investors, interior designers, food producers, human resource managers, executive chefs, food innovators, food service operators and those responsible for the well being of people in the workplace.

The inaugural meeting will take place next month when employee health and nutrition are sure to be on the agenda. The findings from a series of monthly FMWG briefings taking place over the next few months which will focus on new EU food legislation regulations, UK DoH Salt Strategy employee health and nutrition, food safety, healthy eating, educational campaigns, balanced menus, workplace healthy eating policy and legal welfare regulations will be delivered to the Food Service Trends & Innovations conference in January 2014.

The speaker line-up is being finalised but so far those confirmed with differing areas of expertise are:

Professor Tim Benton, Global Food Security Champion,
Sam Waterfall who specialises in Global Consumer Health Trends
Linda McAvan, MEP who sits on the EU Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.

Announcing the launch of FMWG Siobhan Hennessy, Head of Membership Services at the FSI Council, said: "This new workgroup will help Facility Managers and Corporate Service Directors to consider new ways to navigate the increasing demand for food service facilities in the workplace while promoting food innovation, employee well being and workforce productivity."

"New food innovations can help to improve the choice of healthier foods which can taste amazing, while satisfying the trend of meal time convenience and also lower the nations healthcare costs" added FSI Council Chairman Ralph Smith in a statement. "We anticipate that the FMWG will be a talented group of leaders from their respective fields who will help to bring fresh ideas to the table with an eye towards ensuring employee well being and productivity."
