Pinnacle Pain Management is First in Northwest Tennessee to offer SCS Therapy for Chronic Pain

UNION CITY, Tenn. - May 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Union City, TN (April 22, 2013)…Spinal Cord Stimulation therapy (SCS) is a revolutionary new FDA approved way to treat chronic pain that involves interrupting pain signals before they reach the brain. It is a new viable option for patients that cannot be treated by medication alone, are not candidates for some forms of surgery, or experienced surgery without the desired results.  

Pinnacle Pain Management, located in Union City, TN, is a state certified pain management clinic that is trained and qualified to provide SCS therapy to relieve intractable pain of the trunk (lower back) or legs. Spinal Cord Stimulation therapy involves electrical impulses generated to specific areas of the dorsal spine column to mask pain signals before they can travel to the brain.  

Patients that have elected this form of therapy experience a smooth tingling sensation called paresthesia in place of intractable or excruciating pain allowing more freedom to return to normal daily activities. The trial begins with a staff interview to determine medical history and potential eligibility. If accepted as a candidate for SCS, the patient will first undergo a trial of SCS on a temporary basis for one to two weeks in order to monitor their response. If the therapy is successful with a reduction of up to 50% or more of their pain, the patient may then elect to use SCS on a more permanent basis which requires surgery.
