Chevy Unveils the Seventh-Generation Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

The new sports car convertible will be available at Chevy of Homewood towards the end of 2013 as a 2014 model year vehicle.

HOMEWOOD, Ill. - March 11, 2013 - PRLog -- Coming to Chevy of Homewood in the later part of 2013 is the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. The coupe version of the iconic American sports car, dubbed the Stingray, was unveiled earlier this year, with Chevy unveiling the convertible version at the 83rd International Auto Show in Geneva, Switzerland.

Susan Docherty, president of Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe, called convertible a “true dream car,” stating that they were going with a defined, international look, which is why Chevy decided to debut the convertible version overseas. The vehicle will make its American debut at the New York International Auto Show to be held in April.

A question on the mind of the staff of Chevy of Homewood is how the 2014 Chevy Corvette would raise and lower the top. As demonstrated at the Geneva Auto Show, the Corvette has a brand-new, electronically-controlled system. By pressing a button on the key fob, the top will either go up or down. This can even be done while the car is in motion, at speeds of up to 30 mph.

The convertible model will provide the same level of performance as the coupe version and feature relatively the same features. It will likely feature the same base 6.2L V8 capable of producing 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. As of right now, the price of the vehicle is unknown, but will most likely be revealed at the New York Auto Show.

Chevy announced they will be auctioning off the first convertible that comes off the assembly line in Palm Beach, Florida between April 4th and 6th at a Barrett-Jackson’s event, with the proceeds going to charity. The first coupe off the line was also auctioned at a similar event in Scottsdale, Arizona back in January. The winning bid was for $1.1 million.

Chevy of Homewood looks forward to the new generation Corvette coming to its dealership later this year. For more information about the 2014 Corvette, contact the Homewood dealership. They are located at 18033 South Halstead Street in Homewood, Illinois.
