Feb. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The Colony Hotel - Palm Beach Takes Vibrant New Room Design by Carleton Varney An Extra Step with Colorful Outfits for Customer Service Team

(Palm Beach, FL – February 4, 2013)  The Colony Hotel, the center of Palm Beach Society for the last 65 years, recently unveiled two one-bedroom suites and six rooms newly designed by Carleton Varney, one of America’s best-known interior designers.

The positive reaction to the rooms – which have been described as “dramatic, colorful, fresh and fun with that unique Carleton Varney flair” – has now encouraged the world-famous boutique to add two more eye-catching design elements:

+ Beautiful new uniforms for The Colony’s professional customer service team, including a Flamingo Pink Lilly Pulitzer Blazer with cream slacks, topped off by a scarf designed by Varney.

+ Riveting emerald and black wallpaper in jungle style – designed by Carlton Varney, of course – lining the hallway between the hotel lobby and the popular Polo Steaks & Seafood.

“The goal of Mr. Varney and his talented design team was to ‘re-imagine’ our hotel to make it more Florida spacious and Palm Beach specific for our sophisticated guests,” said Roger Everingham, The Colony’s Vice President & General Manager. “And every new element so far has certainly succeeded at that.”

“I have known and loved this property for years and it is truly the one iconic hotel in Palm Beach,” said Varney.  “My goal from the beginning was to enhance and continue the classic tradition of The Colony.”

The result of Mr. Varney’s eye-catching room design is an amazing explosion of bright colors and floral prints, ranging from Carleton Blue and Windsor Pink to Irish Mint Green and Hibiscus Red. With comforting slow-glow lights in the bathrooms, striped walk-in closets, luxurious Frette linens on every cushy bed and dazzling views of the ocean, the Everglades Club golf course and the town of Palm Beach, the six newly designed rooms and two one-bedroom suites are now being offered at premium pricing.

Mr. Varney, who has written a weekly design column for the Palm Beach Daily News for more than 30 years, is associated with the restoration and decoration of countless hotels and resorts all over the world, including Dromoland and Ashford Castles in Ireland; The Waldorf Towers and Plaza Hotel in New York; Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island (Michigan); The Breakers in Palm Beach and the Greenbrier in West Virginia. As president of Dorothy Draper & Co. Inc. (New York) the oldest established interior design firm in the United States, named after the founder of the company who was one of the doyennes of interior design from the 1920’s to the 1960’s, He was the design consultant to the Carter Presidential Library and for numerous functions at the White House.
