I recently met up with Jeff Ludy, owner of Save on Siding in Houston, at a Houston Heights remodeling project. When I notice the product he was using was LP Smartside I just had to know why he chose it over other products. "LP is a wood fiber siding and I choose it when it is appropriate for the client and the home's architecture" Ludy prefers LP Smartside on historic homes because it more closely matches the original details and architecture. "They have 2" thick material..." Save On Siding recently completed the additional training elevating the company to Gold level from the entry point Silver level. Gold offers more training events and therefore access to techniques and expertise many of his competitors lack. "When the home is a Craftsman or a Victorian style home, I come in with my Gold Level Buildsmart kit from LP and the customer is sold", Ludy elaborated. "I love this area and when I see materials being used that just are not period correct, it saddens me. I have too many memories here and it just break my heart to see homes that have been remodeled incorrectly" The Gold Level program from LP is a somewhat exclusive club. Competition may offer a competing fiber cement product and they may try to offer LP Smartside but, Save On Siding has the program training and field expertise to really make a historic home stand out on the block.
