Dec. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- On Sunday, December 23, several players, parents, and volunteers from the Enfield Girls Softball Association held a fundraiser for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

The fundraiser was held at Shop Rite in Enfield and included 12 girls from various Divisions in the league. Several adult volunteers helped supervise the event which raised over $1500. Debbie Martinez (EGSA Fundraising Coordinator) organized the event. "These girls did a wonderful thing today and even though I am tired and frozen, I could not be more proud of them" said Mrs. Martinez. "It was our first attempt to organize something like this within a limited time-frame. I am proud of our girls, the volunteers, and the Enfield community for their generosity" stated Eric Pease, President of the league.

The girls and volunteers stood outside of Shop Rite for 8 hours while holiday shoppers donated to the cause. "It makes us feel good to be able to help" said one of the girls.

The EGSA will be organizing donation to the designated charity within the next couple of weeks according to Mr. Pease.
