DIRTY GIRL GARDENING SHOWS US HOW TO GET THAT HOLIDAY GLOW WITH HER DIY KITCHEN FACIALS

Half Moon Bay, CA - December 10, 2012

Jennifer Lee Segale is a horticulturist, owner and founder of the witty, chic gardening blog, DirtyGirlGarden.com and the creator of Garden Apothecary, a line of organic skin and body care products used by some of the most beautiful faces around the world. She is giving us her coveted DIY kitchen facials just in time for the holidays! Jenn believes keeping a consistent face cleansing routine is crucial to creating healthy, radiant skin. But like many of us, she struggles with finding time to indulge in a luxurious trip to the spa due to either hectic spa bookings or simply finding the time for long treatments. To avoid the expense and scheduling, Jenn came up with her own face mask using a few simple ingredients you already have in your kitchen. Theses facials are cost effective and will hydrate, cleanse and nourish any skin type. Get your kitchen bowls ready and learn how to whip up your own yummy facial that will leave your skin silky smooth and positively glowing!

Honey Face Mask - as a natural antioxidant, anti-micobial and anti-inflammatory material, raw honey makes a gorgeous face cleanser on its own, and mask when paired with a few simple ingredients. Any honey will do but try to buy raw, local, organic honey. The tiny bits of wax, resin and propolis add many other benefits to the skin including a light exfoliant.

Ingredients and Recipe - 3 tbsp. raw honey a small handful of petals from the garden (roses, calendula, violet or marigold petals work the best!) 1 tbsp. rolled Oats or Instant Oatmeal

Combine ingredients in a small bowl and apply to your face and neck, rubbing in a circular motion. Let sit for 2 minutes or more. Rinse clean with warm water. (Doing this in the shower may be easiest, as it gets sticky!)
