Jenn Segale loves gettin’ dirty. Literally. Trenched deep in the earth’s soil is where she finds her
inspiration, peace and purpose. Jenn is a horticulturist, owner and founder of the witty, chic gardening blog, DirtyGirlGarden.com and the creator of Garden Apothecary, a line of organic skin and body care products. She recently traveled down to the lush rainforest of Belize on a plant research adventure last month to attend the organic fair in Punta Gorda, volunteer with cacao farmers and work side by side with the plant shaman in the capital city of Belmopan.
So just how did Jenn end up there? During a previous trip last December, Jenn made many connections in the Belizean plant world and returned to research the medicinal properties of jungle plants and herbs as well as capture the traditional knowledge and wisdom of the indigenous farmers and plant shaman. Mayan and Belizean cultures are deeply rooted in the connection to the plant kingdom and Jenn was there to document every bit of it.
Post her trip, Jenn will be writing a hardback book documenting the connection between plants and plant shaman and farmers. Should you wish to interview Jenn or feature her writings about her travels, please consider her for the following topics:
• Organic farming and gardening in the wild • Cooking with organic herbs and spices • Learning cultural traditions and behaviors of herbal and medicinal plant knowledge • Indigenous plant wisdom and plant shamanism • The benefits of using all natural beauty and skin care products
