The name “Umberto Bocce” was inspired by a bocce player named Umberto Granaglia. Between 1957 and 1980 Granaglia won a record 13 World Championships, 12 European Championship titles, and 46 Italian National Championships. He is widely recognized as the greatest bocce player to ever play the game.

Bocce is a sport closely related to bowls and pétanque and was first played in the Roman Empire.

In America, Bocce was initially played amongst Italian immigrants themselves but slowly became more popular with their descendants and now is widely played across the country.

It truly is a wonderful game that can be played by anyone young and old. Perhaps the best way to play is simply in the lawn during gatherings with close friends and family.
