Fifth Grader Works with FBI to Solve Father’s Mysterious Death

A young misfit, his baffling new classmate, and the FBI combine to equal a great story.

PRLog - Nov. 17, 2012 - APEX, N.C. -- First time author, Ann Eisenstein creates an endearing and genuine character in Sean Gray. Eleven-year old Sean sets out to find answers to the troubling questions about his father’s untimely death.  Alone in his mission, Sean is threatened by several menacing characters, least of which is the school bully. He unwittingly encounters perpetrators of serious crimes and faces the dilemma of who in this tangle of clues can be trusted with his discoveries—and his life.

Armed solely with lessons shared by his FBI Agent father, Sean desperately tries to stay within the lines drawn and enforced by his grieving mother as he uncovers the truth behind their tragic loss.

Ms. Eisenstein’s debut novel for Middle Grade readers, HIDING CARLY, the first in the Sean Gray, Special Junior Agent (JSA) series offers far more than entertainment—it also offers some solid grounding life lessons for young readers. Ms. Eisenstein brings home the message about personal responsibility, and accountability in the Sean Gray character. The author manages all this without the use of preachy dictates or comprising the impetuous and youthful exuberance of a fifth grader. Her young hero is reminiscent of earlier YA detective series Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys and the more contemporary Veronica Mars series.

As an added bonus, parents will find this series a highly enjoyable re-enforcement of family and community values.

Ann Eisenstein lives in Columbia, South Carolina. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the South Carolina Writer’s Workshop (SCWW), the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizen’s Academy (FBICA).
