Sept. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Racism has been one of the main reasons given for the failures in the African-American population for many years.  But what if there were new information that pointed to many within the group as being complicit and, in our current time, the origin of the problems facing this population by using racism as a tool of division for personal gain?  This is exactly what the book "The Split: An Assessment of the African-American Group Identity" suggests.

New author, Akinya Khalfani, an African-American, ends the summer with a series of radio interviews and presentations regarding the explosive content within the book.  Having suggested that there are three separate types of African-Americans from which two of the groups are detrimental to the positive agenda of the group at-large, Khalfani states eloquently that the time for the collective relationship has  long expired and the time to officially "Split" into different groups is upon us.

According to the author, Khalfani was asked one question more than any other, "why are many blacks keeping other blacks from progressing?"  His answer was simple each time.  "These types of African-Americans benefit from the status quo of African-Americans as secondary inferior people".  He explains further that, "these types of people use racism as a tool to extract resources from those perceived to be in positions of strength. Manipulating non-African-Americans to believe race problems of the past are still the predominant issues and accepting this inferior position allows them to manage the 'race agenda' and create realities that keep many blacks from achieving at the levels they are capable of while simultaneously raking in fortunes doing it".

The book explains how many "popular" African-American politicians, entertainers, religious leaders, media personalities and regular members of the group have both consciously and sub-sonsciously set agendas that isolate the most competent in the group from ascending to any positions of prominence and providing solutions, due to the changes it would create in the economic fortunes of those vested in keeping other blacks inferior and others from feeling guilty of actions that may or may not be real.

"The Split" is a brutally honest look at the behaviors within the group that are contributing to the lack of progress, as well as offering solutions to eradicate them.  The gloves have come off as the book deals with topics including the rich and the poor, the highly educated and not-so-educated, the religious, the political, the criminal and the sanctimonious alike.  None are spared, including the author himself.

A must read for all Americans that have grown tired of racism being used as a weapon of distraction, opposed to eradicating it when occuring.
