Operation Helmet Sends 66,000th Kit

Sept. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- 60,000 upgrade kits have been sent to American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen at no cost to our troops. This has been the result of over eight years of efforts by men, women, and children from all over this great country and even a few from around the world.  
Today’s combat helmets worn by our troops are designed to protect our troops from gunfire and flying debris – not blasts – blasts which cause the signature wounds and injuries of the war in Afghanistan.

A helmet upgrade kit consists of a set of replacement shock-absorbing pads which are as protective but more comfortable than the government-issued pads.

“This particular Soldier’s Dad is a former Navy SEAL, working on a off-shore rig with a Marine Mom who told dad about Operation Helmet. SEAL working with a MARINE mom to get his ARMY son and his battle buddies the most wearable and protective head gear we can find,” says Doc Bob Meaders, retired Navy Captain and Flight Surgeon.  “Troops consistently ask us for upgrade kits, to replace the hard, hot, uncomfortable government-issued pads.  We are proud to able to do this with the help of real Americans who want to make a difference by helping our heroes - our troops - return home safe and sound.”

About Operation Helmet

Operation Helmet is a nonpartisan, 501(c)3 charitable grassroots effort that provides helmet upgrade kits free of charge to U.S. troops in harm’s way. Operation Helmet depends on tax-deductible donations which can be of any amount and can be designated for a specific military service, a particular unit or an individual troop. For $35 per helmet, added safety and comfort can be provided for a troop. Over 99% of donations go toward helmet kits. There are no salaries or payroll costs deducted and Operation Helmet’s books are available for inspection.
