Cash Mob to hit Mint Hill Farmer’s Market this Saturday

Sept. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- As part of a Shift $20 movement, RelyLocal and Cash Mob Charlotte are asking people who want to participate to show up and refocus at least $20 of their current spending to support local businesses in lieu of buying online or at the big-box chains.

Cash Mobs are a regular monthly event for RelyLocal as part of a call-to-action to rebuild our local economy. They are already seeking out local businesses for the next Cash Mob hit in Indian Trail. What exactly is a Cash Mob?
Perhaps you have heard of “flash mobs,” where a mass of people invade a public space to make a scene. Now the idea has been turned on its head by “cash mobs,” where crowds of consumers show up to spend money at local businesses.

The first Cash Mob was organized by blogger Christopher Smith in Buffalo in August 2011. Cash Mobs have occurred in Cleveland, San Diego and cities around the world. Cash Mobs have no political or social affiliation. The events are organized by people who want to make a positive impact on local businesses and have fun while doing so. All businesses chosen to be the target of the Cash Mob are known for giving back to the community in a positive way.
