Mike and Alicia Wallace started the family-owned restaurant out of love and a passion for good food. Alicia grew up with an uncle who was a well-known caterer, while Mike developed a passion for cooking from his grandmother. The couple opened the local restaurant in September 2011, and is looking forward to celebrating its one-year anniversary next month. They are committed to serving locally-grown and homemade “comfort food” that include a number of recipes handed down from Alicia’s mother and Mike’s grandmother.
To help locally-owned businesses through some hard economic times, RelyLocal decided to launch the Love a Local Business contest giving viable businesses a chance to receive additional marketing and promoting through RelyLocal.
RelyLocal is a grassroots movement in Matthews, Mint Hill and Indian Trail that promotes local businesses to local people, and advocates a buy local movement within the community. The purpose is to get more people to be part of the community, do business in the community, and shop in the community to rebuild the local economy.
Local businesses are entered in the contest through nominations submitted online at RelyLocal.com. One winner is selected each month based on the number of nominations received, viability of the business, the quality of service provided to customers, and its involvement in community.
