BBB Accepting Applications for Student Scholarships

Aug. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. (August 27, 2012) – Better Business Bureau serving Eastern North Carolina is pleased to offer the 2012 BBB Torch Scholarships. Applications are now being accepted for this annual scholarship program which recognizes students who personify high ethics as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity and academic history.

Torch Scholarships are given to college-bound high school juniors, seniors, and college undergraduates who reside within BBB of Eastern North Carolina’s 33-county service area. Scholarship prizes of $2,000 (first place), $1,500 (second place), and $1,000 (third place) will be awarded. Applications will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges from business communities in eastern North Carolina.

To be eligible, students must submit a 400-500 word essay, along with an application and a letter of recommendation from a BBB Accredited Business. The 2012 Torch Scholarship essay topic is “If I were a CEO… the 5 principles on which I would build my company and why.”

Completed application packets are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mid-December and recognized at BBB’s Annual Board of Directors Luncheon in January 2013.
