Follow on Google News | BBB serving Eastern NC Hires Liaison for Hispanic CommunityIn an effort to reach out to the Hispanic community, Silva will work directly with the media, as well as participate in community events, trade shows and speaking engagements. She will be responsible for keeping Latino consumers informed about common scams and BBB services that are available to the community. Silva will also be BBB’s contact for Spanish-speaking consumers who inquire about a business or file a complaint. “BBB is so pleased to have someone of Marisol’s experience to help us better serve the Spanish-speaking residents of our 33 counties in Eastern North Carolina,” said Toby Barfield, president and CEO of BBB serving Eastern North Carolina. “Having lived here for more than a decade, she has developed a great passion for helping those who are new to the U.S. and not fully knowledgeable about how to conduct business here or how to protect their assets from scammers and other less scrupulous operators they may encounter soon after their arrival.” Silva received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies, and a Business Spanish Certificate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2007. She is currently working toward her master’s degree in Liberal Studies at Duke University. Prior to joining BBB, Silva served as Assistant to the Director at the North Carolina Governor’s Office of Latino/Hispanic Affairs and was Program Director at El Centro Latino.
