Oquendo attended the New York Institute of Technology on a lacrosse scholarship where he majored in Business Administration. After being injured while playing lacrosse, Oquendo had to withdraw from the Institute after successfully completing two years of the degree program. Oquendo hopes to become an IT professional in the area of CISCO networking and plans on achieving both CCENT and CCNA certifications.
"Oquendo's ambitious but achievable dream to become a certified IT professional is exactly the kind of person we look for in terms of the NetCom scholarship,"
"Right now I'm starting my learning from the ground up, but I truly want to reach beyond the ceiling", says Oquendo. I am excited to learn whatever new programs are created. It is my ambition to learn how they work so I can become proficient in today's technology and become an asset to whatever company I work for. I hope to be an inspiration to others and show how a NetCom scholarship can be the opportunity to succeed beyond all expectations,"
