Aug. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- According to the Golf Tournament Association of America, there will be over one million charity golf tournaments played this year.  In fact, golf tournament popularity is at an all-time high with busy tournament planners pulling out all the stops to attract generous participants.  From extravagant hole-in-one cash prizes to cruises and raffles and other fancy giveaways - the list of seductive promotional perks is long.

But gifts and prizes aren't the only big draw for charity golf.  According to StreetDirectory.com, celebrities, who are often invited to golf events, also attract turnout.  And more tournament participants means more money for the charitable cause.

However, big name celebrities aren't always available or willing to participate, so many tournaments are opting for the next best thing.  Two of these celebrity-like attractions are Rodney Dangerfield impersonator Marc Melzer and Frank Sinatra tribute artist Dave Halston.

Considering their virtually opposite talent attributes, Melzer and Halston are an unlikely pair.  And that's precisely why pairing them works.  Melzer's Caddyshack-style Rodney by day and Halston's Vegas-style Sinatra by night bridges virtually every age group, lifestyle and taste.  According to Sinatra Nation representative, Liz Silverman, "the combination of these two fabulous entertainers are a highly effective draw for would-be golf tournament players".

When asked about sporting his "Caddyshack" character about the course, Melzer explained, "It's all about having fun while supporting a worthy cause.  I always leave them laughing, and the more they laugh, the better they feel about the beneficiary organization.  It's basic psychology and it works!"

Dave Halston offers yet another perspective on the nuances of a tournament's success, "At the end of a physically demanding day on the course, players are tired, hungry and thirsty.  My Sinatra show is a welcome relief with almost universal appeal.  A few cocktails, a little dinner and a show - and the course-weary crowd is energized all over again.  They love it!"

Both entertainers possess impressive on-stage credits:

Dave Halston experienced an extraordinary career highlight when he delivered a command performance for Frank’s widow, Barbara Sinatra, who said Dave delivered a "wonderful performance" and was moved to tears by his commanding rendition of “My Way”. Dave has also performed for Jeanne Martin (Mrs. Dean Martin).

Marc Melzer has been impersonating Rodney Dangerfield for over 15 years and has successfully mastered Rodney's quick wit and signature one-liners, incorporating them into his act.  Many who have watched him perform claim he sounds and acts just like Rodney.  One fan calls him "A near perfect Caddyshack impersonator".
