June 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Pasadena, CA– Congressman Adam Schiff has long been a supporter of Foothill Vocational Opportunities and people with developmental disabilities. Foothill’s CEO William Murphy and Director of Development Jody Short visited Congressman Adam Schiff’s office to present him with a Certificate of Appreciation and talk about the AbilityOne® Program. Congressman Adam Schiff was familiar with the Program and readily agreed to become an AbilityOne® Champion. An AbilityOne ® Champion is an elected policymaker who has demonstrated support of the Program and participated in an associated agency in his or her district.

The AbilityOne® Program is a federal program that helps people who have significant disabilities attain employment through a national network of over 600 nonprofit agencies that sell products and services to the U.S. government. Foothill Vocational Opportunities has served individuals with developmental and other disabilities for nearly 50 years. Foothill manufactures hole punches for the federal government through AbilityOne®. Foothill’s participation in AbilityOne® helps to provide jobs to over 260 people from throughout the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County each year.

Congressman Schiff is proud that his office uses the high quality paper punches produced at the Foothill Vocational Opportunities AbilityOne® Program right here in the San Gabriel Valley.
