Follow on Google News | Pirate Adventure Golf course in Hastings to host the BMGA British Minigolf ChampionshipsTop Minigolfers to compete in the 15th annual BMGA British Minigolf Championships in Hastings, East Sussex on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th June.
Reigning and defending champion James ‘The Rocket’ Rutherford from Cambridge will be facing competition from fellow BMGA Tour Pro players in the competition that tees-off at 9.30am on Saturday 23rd June. The BMGA British Championships has a total prize-fund of £500. The current BMGA British Senior Champion Tony ‘TK Maxx’ Kelly from Cambridgeshire and his son BMGA British Junior Champion Adam ‘AK 47’ Kelly will be in action attempting to defend their titles. The competition will also see the three-time BMGA British Champion John ‘Big Top Ted’ McIver from Hastings and 2006 winner Newcastle’s John ‘YI’ Moore in action. Also lining up is former five-time BMGA Women’s Champion Ruth Burke from St Leonards on Sea. Thirteen novice players will be competing in the tournament, eleven of whom will be making their BMGA Tour debut. Spectators are welcome to attend the competition at the seafront Adventure Golf complex. There will be players in action on the course from 9.30am and people can find out more about the British Minigolf Association Tour, future tournaments and sign-up for free standard membership of the BMGA. The Mayor of Hastings Councillor Alan Roberts will be presenting the prizes to the BMGA British Champion Minigolfers at approximately 4pm on Sunday 24th June. Entry is £25 for adults and £10 for players under-18. All players will play seven rounds in the tournament. There are currently 37 players registered to compete in the event. Players from five of the UK's minigolf clubs will be competing, with representatives from the Cambridgeshire Minigolf Club, Kent Minigolf Club, London Minigolf Club, Midlands Minigolf Club and the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club in action. During the 2012 season the highly regarded courses at the Hastings Seafront Adventure Golf complex are the venue for five Miniature Golf tournaments. The first two of these were held in May and saw the second-annual WMF World Adventure Golf Masters and BMGA British Adventure Golf Open played. On Sunday 14th October the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club Open will be played on all three seafront courses. On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October the tenth-annual Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships will be played on the Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf course. The BMGA Tour consists of Minigolf ranking events that take place at Minigolf, Crazy Golf and Adventure Golf courses across the UK. In 2011 there were 22 Ranking BMGA Tour competitions and a total of 12 players lifted BMGA Tour titles in Open, Invitational, Club and Doubles events. The British Minigolf Association (BMGA) always welcomes new members. Anyone living in the UK and aged at least 14 can join in the fun. For 2012 the BMGA is again offering two tiers of membership. BMGA Tour Card Membership costs £20 and entitles players to discounted pre-event practice rates at tournament venues on the calendar (some venues will offer these rates all season). Alternatively people can register for free membership via the BMGA website, ensuring they receive regular newsletters with details of forthcoming events and results from the BMGA Tour.
