Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness Team Scores Over 40 Medals at NAGA East Coast Grappling Championship

PRLog (Press Release) - May 10, 2012 - With a squad of just over 20 competitors last Saturday, Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness in Wareham Massachusetts took home well over 40 medals at the NAGA (North American Grappling Association) East Coast Grappling Championships. NAGA is the largest tournament organization in the Northeast.

The impressive performance follows a record year of victories in 2011, when the Nexus competition team won the NAGA Northeast Championships – with a just 9 adult students competing (overall team rankings are determined only by adult competitors' points).

Prior to 2011, the team had already earned top 3 overall team rankings in NAGA competitions despite often being overshadowed in number by some of the larger associations in the Northeast, which often bring competition teams from multiple schools within their organization to compete under the same banner.

“To walk away with so many medals again, including 12 Golds, with that few people is really gratifying,” said Nexus owner and Chief Instructor, Stephen Whittier. “Even though the vast majority of our students at Nexus don’t compete, we have a very supportive atmosphere where everyone contributes to the training and quality of the environment. I couldn’t be prouder of the school’s accomplishments.”
