Wareham Mixed Martial Arts & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Competition Teams Celebrate Winning Weekend

April 8, 2014 - PRLog -- All four members of the SBG East Coast (formerly Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts teams who competed this weekend came home with new medals.

The action on Saturday, April 5th, began with Anick Bernier and Bob Andersen competing at the  International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s 2014 Boston Spring Open, where Bernier won Gold and Andersen took home a Bronze medal.

Later that evening two other SBG members, Jeff Perez and Jake Weeks, competed at the Cage Titans FC event at Plymouth Memorial Hall. Both earned decisive victories by submission and referee stoppage, respectively.

Academy owner and chief instructor, Stephen Whittier, stated that “Although only a small percentage of our members compete, we have a very strong history of results at all levels; most of all, I’m proud of the sincere attitude and character of our students and athletes.”

Later this month, SBG East Coast professional mixed martial artist Matthew Thompson will compete at the CES MMA event at Twin River Casino in Rhode Island.
