Parr Lumber West Linn offers free do-it-yourself home project classes for women

March 22, 2012 - PRLog -- WEST LINN, Ore. – Leading Northwest building materials retailer Parr Lumber will host Ladies Night Out Thursday, April 5 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the West Linn store.  

Just in time for spring, ladies are invited to participate in four, 30-minute workshops to learn how to install pavers and build a fire pit, clean and maintain decks for summer entertaining, and install interior doors and trim. Ladies will also learn how to build a cedar picnic table and be invited to enter for their chance to win one. Additionally, each guest will build and take home a cedar planter box.

A recent study conducted by FGI Research found do-it-yourself projects are on the rise due to the stalled economy and the ability to save cost. The study, which concluded that women completed 69% of all light do-it-yourself projects, also found that women sited enjoyment from learning new skills a primary motivator in tackling these projects.

“We really enjoy Ladies Night Out; it’s a great way to share our project ideas with the growing number of women who are taking an interest in home do-it-yourself projects,” said Jon Friesen assistant manager of Parr Lumber in West Linn.

In conjunction with Ladies Night, Parr Lumber West Linn is offering in store sales on pre-built cedar planter boxes, fire pit kits, 10% off all deck stains and cleaners and more.
