Voting extended in National search for a ‘local hero’

Organisers report higher than expected levels of media attention and number of voters in the final of Motors.co.uk competition for the most committed charity fundraisers and dedicated carers

March 10, 2012 - PRLog -- The Motors.co.uk  competition to find the ‘Most Deserving’ local hero has received over 2,500 votes for the 11 finalists. The three finalists recording the highest number of votes will go forward to a final judging panel that will decide who will receive a gift of up to £10,000 towards a car, plus a £2,500 donation to the charity of their choice.

Phill Jones, commercial director at leading used car website Motors.co.uk, said, “When we launched the competition we weren’t sure of how the public would respond. We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of nominations, the number of votes, and that the attention the press and the general public have paid to the wonderful work being done by our finalists. Some of the stories are truly humbling and all the nominees have shown great kindness and dedication to their causes.  We’re very proud to be able to honour these remarkable individuals, and therefore we want to allow an extra week for voting and for all of them to have time for their local press to carry their story.”

Nominations were received from every region of the country. Some regions produced more than others, and some regions produced stories of incredible selflessness and generosity of spirit. The 11 finalists represent a cross-section of fund raisers, charity workers, carers and campaigners. They all have interesting and inspiring stories, have each nominated a charity to receive the donation should they win. Links on the voting pages go to their nominated charities where site visitors can find out more about the charity and make a donation to funds.

A public vote for the ‘Most Deserving’ closes on Friday 16th March and the winner of the competition will be announced during the week of Monday 26th March.

The final 11 nominees are;
•   Linza Corp - Families Against Neuroblastoma - East of England
