National search for a ‘local hero’ has turned up 11 remarkable stories

Voting starts in the final of Motors.co.uk competition for the most committed charity fundraisers and dedicated carers in a search for a the most deserving

Feb. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- The Motors.co.uk competition to find the ‘Most Deserving’ local hero has received hundreds of detailed and heart-felt nominations from across the UK. A panel of judges has selected 11 to go to a public vote, and the winner will receive the gift of up to £10,000 towards a car, plus a £2,500 donation to the charity of their choice.

Phill Jones, commercial director at leading used car website Motors.co.uk, said, “When we launched the competition to find a local hero we expected to hear about some special people. However, some of the stories we received were truly humbling and we’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness and dedication shown by the nominees.  We’re very proud to be able to honour these remarkable individuals.”

Nominations were received from every region of the country. Some regions produced more than others, and some regions produced stories of incredible selflessness and generosity of spirit.

Mr Jones continues, “Our judging panel were able to pick a selection of fund raisers, charity workers, carers and campaigners. They all have interesting and inspiring stories, have nominated amazing charities and all have great ideas of how upgrading their car would help their community work.”

A public vote for the ‘Most Deserving’ starts on Thursday 23rd February and will run into March, and the nominees have been challenged to get the most votes possible. Links on the voting pages go to their nominated charities where site visitors can find out more about the charity and make a donation to funds.
