Haitian man who survived living in a two bedroom shack made of mud

March 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Wilnor Tereau is a 27 year old Haitian Model whose early life was roughly surrounded by gangs, violence and economic hardships. He survived for years living in a home made two bedroom shack of mud, with sugarcane leaves used as a protective roof top. There was no access to electricity, clean water, or food to eat. He grew up in various parts of Haiti with his grandmother, including an area called Croix-Des-Bouquets which was affected by a massive cholera outbreak, killing hundreds of Haitian people. Living with his grandmother was a significant and memorable experience in Tereau’s life. Unfortunately, at the age of 56 she died of a heart attack forcing Wilnor to relocate to an impoverished city in Port-au-Prince called Cite Soleil.

A couple of years later, Wilnor had the opportunity to move to Chatham, Massachusetts where he lived with his father and step mother. In his transition from Haiti to Chatham, Wilnor experienced culture shock after he was bullied for being the only person of color. Despite these challenges, Wilnor found a way to immerse himself in the new environment. He attended Chatham High School and later became a superstar athlete on the school’s soccer team. After graduating, he enrolled in college, with aspirations of becoming a physical Therapist. His dream is to one day return to his country and give back to the communities that helped shaped his life. Currently, Wilnor is exclusively signed to BIENAIME AGENCY, founded by Marvin Bienaime, where he is pursuing his career as a fashion model.

“Modeling really means a lot to me. It keeps me occupied and helps boost my self esteem and confidence. It has opened doors for me that I never thought were possible. It plays a big factor in my health because it motivates me to work out and stay fit. I am so blessed at this moment of my life right now.
