Travelers Discover Asia’s Hidden Vegetarian Treasures

Specialty tour company VegVoyages provides guided group vacations for vegans, vegetarians—and anyone else hungry for culinary adventure

Feb. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Amidst remote jungle villages, roaring waterfalls flowing from towering limestone cliffs, and baroque Buddhist temples, a dozen or so Western tourists get their first taste of Laos, the geographic and cultural heart of Indochina. Floating down the mighty Mekong River on a traditional long-tailed wooden boat, their two experienced guides, Zac & Singhji, point to the ninth-century ruins of Wat Tomo that the group is about to explore on foot. Later, a rejuvenating massage and mouthwatering vegan dinner over a beautiful Baci ceremony round out a spectacular day.

And that’s just Day 4 of this epic two-and-a-half week journey. There’s a lot more exploring, and eating, still ahead. Fortunately, all 44 of the travelers’ vegan meals sampling authentic, local Laotian cuisine are included in the price of the tour package: from tasty tofu laap to bamboo basket sticky rice. So are accommodations, transportation, activities, and taxes, ensuring that travelers know beforehand exactly what their vacation costs—and the value of what they get for their money.

Laos is just one of the five Asian countries VegVoyages tours, and they’re taking a group there this summer from June 16 to July 2, 2012. http://www.vegvoyages.com/adv-laos.html

Drawing on more than two decades of living, working and traveling in Asia, Zac Lovas, alongside his partner from India, RK Singh, oversee every aspect of the adventures, from the planning stage to personally guiding each tour. The benefit of such individualized attention, said Zac, is that “we never hand our customers to another company or travel agent. They work with us from the day they book their trip until it’s done. Meaning, we know our travelers and we remember them.”

Added Singhji, “Our motto is, ‘When you travel with us, you’re not just a number.’ So, whenever our customers call us or email us, they don’t have to explain who they are.” Other special VegVoyages features include guaranteed departure dates with no minimum group size. That means, once a tour is booked and the deposit paid, it’s fail-safe. Travelers therefore never have to worry about cancellation or rescheduling that would require them to rearrange their holiday time away from the office or change their airline ticket (which usually costs money).

VegVoyages also accommodates private groups of 10 or more at no extra cost for all their trips (except Thailand, for now). This allows extended families, friends, associations, and schools to reserve specific dates for bundled vacations.

With summer just a few months away, planning a vacation to the alluring East now can give winter-weary adventurers something to look forward to. VegVoyages is currently accepting reservations for its upcoming Laos trip in June: visit vegvoyages.com for more information. The VegVoyages team is also attending the Green Festival in New York City on April 21 and 22, 2012 to meet those who would like to talk about their guided adventure tours in person.
