Leading Women Releases Pioneering Research on Gender Dynamics, Talent Pipeline Constriction

Recent research conducted by Leading Women indicates an additional factor – one that is rarely recognized and seldom discussed. Leading Women calls it “The Missing 33%™.”

Feb. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- If the top levels of an organization contain very few women, talent management and development programs may be contributing factors. Although the need for top talent is at an all-time high, disproportionately small numbers of women at the top can be an indicator that a talent development model has a built-in gender bias. This is constricting the movement of top talent advance to senior positions.

Many well-publicized factors contribute to smaller percentages of women at the top. These include women stepping onto the mommy track, gender-related expectations of career decision-makers (e.g. “she wouldn’t want that job, she’d have to move her family”) and the fact that women don’t go into line/operations management positions at the same rate as men. These and other influences warrant attention and remediation.

Recent research conducted by Leading Women indicates an additional factor – one that is rarely recognized and seldom discussed. Leading Women calls it “The Missing 33%™.”

Susan Colantuono, founder and chief executive officer of Leading Women, will present Leading Women’s research on gender dynamics during a webinar by HR.com on February 14 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. The webinar is called “How Corporations Fail Women: Why You Can’t Develop Talent With a 2-Legged Stool” and is part of the HR.com conference on “Developing Organizational Leadership Capabilities.” Visit http://www.hr.com/en?t=/contentManager/onStory&StoryID=13...  for details at HR.com.
