"I have always loved animals and how they can be used to teach important principles to children," said Cathy Smith, founder of Cathy's Critters. "The staff at Cathy's Critters and I understand how important it is for children today to have balance in their lives," Smith continued.
"With the pressures of school, video-based entertainment, instant communication with text and mobile phones, and so many other features of modern life which raise stress and anxiety in children we want the kids and their parents to have a counterbalance. Having hands-on experience with animals, exploring science while out in nature, and hands-on crafts can provide DFW parents and their children with wonderful experiences and memories they will keep forever, adds Cathy. "We even ask parents to keep cell phones and handheld games at home."
Activities for children include relay races, crafts, goat-milking, and a petting zoo. There also will be horse grooming, cooking, songs, science explorations involving pond water, solar energy, and the environment. Each session will be separated into two age groups: 5 to 7, and 8 to 12.
The summer camps run in one-week sessions, and the dates for each session are June 11-15, June 25-29, July 9-13, July 23-27, August 6-10, and August 13-17. Overnight summer camp sessions happen on the Friday nights of each session for the 8-12 age group, Cathy's Critters confirmed.
